An Act
to amend
8.10 (4) (b), 8.15 (2), 8.20 (5) and 8.40 (1) of the statutes;
relating to:
providing a printed name for signers of nomination papers and petitions.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:

8.10 (4) (b) of the statutes is amended to read:

(b) Only one signature per person for the same office is valid. In addition to his or her signature,
in order for the signature to be valid,
each signer of a nomination paper
shall legibly print his or her name in a space provided next to his or her signature and
shall list his or her municipality of residence for voting purposes, the street and number, if any, on which the signer resides, and the date of signing.

8.15 (2) of the statutes is amended to read:

each signer
shall legibly print his or her name in a space provided next to his or her signature and
shall list his or her municipality of residence for voting purposes, the street and number, if any, on which the signer resides, and the date of signing. Signers of each nomination paper shall reside in the same jurisdiction or district which the candidate named therein will represent, if elected.

8.40 (1) of the statutes is amended to read:

In addition to any other requirements provided by law, each separate sheet of each petition for an election, including a referendum, shall have on the face at the top in boldface print the word "PETITION". Each signer of such a petition shall affix his or her signature to the petition, accompanied by his or her municipality of residence for voting purposes, the street and number, if any, on which the signer resides, and the date of signing.
In addition, each signer shall legibly print his or her name in a space provided next to his or her signature. No signature is valid under this subsection unless the signer satisfies the requirements under this subsection.

Initial applicability.
(1) This act first applies to nomination papers and petitions for which the initial circulation date is on or after the effective date of this subsection.

This act takes effect on January 8, 2014, or the day after publication, whichever is later.
